- Deut C21 V22 – 23, “And if a man have committed a sin worthy of death, and he be to be put to death, and thou hang him on a tree: His body shall not remain all night upon the tree, but thou shalt in any wise bury him that day; (for he that is hanged is accursed of God) that thy land be not defiled, which the LORD thy God giveth thee for an inheritance.” Refer to GAL C3 V13 below.
- Isa C53 V5, “But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.” All of Isaiah C53 is about JESUS’ suffering & dying on the cross. V5 specifically says because HIS body suffered/beaten/smitten/broken/whipped we are healed; JESUS took on all of our injuries/illnesses and curses on the cross (Deut C21 V22 – 23).
- Matt C26 V26 – 29, “And as they were eating, Jesus took bread, and blessed it, and brake it, and gave it to the disciples, and said, Take, eat; this is my body. And he took the cup, and gave thanks, and gave it to them, saying, Drink ye all of it; For this is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins. But I say unto you, I will not drink henceforth of this fruit of the vine, until that day when I drink it new with you in my Father’s kingdom.”
- Mark C14 V22 – 25, “And as they did eat, Jesus took bread, and blessed, and brake it, and gave to them, and said, Take, eat: this is my body. And he took the cup, and when he had given thanks, he gave it to them: and they all drank of it. And he said unto them, This is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many. Verily I say unto you, I will drink no more of the fruit of the vine, until that day that I drink it new in the kingdom of God.”
- Luke C22 V19 – 20, “And he took bread, and gave thanks, and brake it, and gave unto them, saying, This is my body which is given for you: this do in remembrance of me. Likewise also the cup after supper, saying, This cup is the new testament in my blood, which is shed for you.” This do to remember JESUS’ suffering, dying on the cross and the shedding of JESUS’ blood to wash us clean of our sins & NOT for the forgiveness of sins.
- Luke C24 V30 – 31, “And it came to pass, as he sat at meat with them, he took bread, and blessed it, and brake, and gave to them. And their eyes were opened, and they knew him; and he vanished out of their sight.”
- John C6 V33 – 35, “For the bread of God is he which cometh down from heaven, and giveth life unto the world. Then said they unto him, Lord, evermore give us this bread. And Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst.”
- John C6 V47 – 51, “Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me hath everlasting life. I am that bread of life. Your fathers did eat manna in the wilderness, and are dead. This is the bread which cometh down from heaven, that a man may eat thereof, and not die. I am the living bread which came down from heaven: if any man eat of this bread, he shall live for ever: and the bread that I will give is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world.”
- John C6 V53 – 58, “Then Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except ye eat the flesh of the Son of man, and drink his blood, ye have no life in you. Whoso eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, hath eternal life; and I will raise him up at the last day. For my flesh is meat indeed, and my blood is drink indeed. He that eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, dwelleth in me, and I in him. As the living Father hath sent me, and I live by the Father: so he that eateth me, even he shall live by me. This is that bread which came down from heaven: not as your fathers did eat manna, and are dead: he that eateth of this bread shall live for ever.”
- Acts C2 V42 – 46, “And they continued stedfastly in the apostles’ doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers. And fear came upon every soul: and many wonders and signs were done by the apostles. And all that believed were together, and had all things common; And sold their possessions and goods, and parted them to all men, as every man had need. And they, continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, did eat their meat with gladness and singleness of heart,” Daily they took communion from house to house therefore to several houses daily – NOT once a week & NOT at the temple/synagogue/church only but in houses. You can do this in your house, several times a day!
- Acts C20 V7, “And upon the first day of the week, when the disciples came together to break bread, Paul preached unto them, ready to depart on the morrow; and continued his speech until midnight.” They came together the 1st day, Sunday to break bread, communion then Paul preached/had service.
- 1 Cor C10 V13 – 22, “There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it. Wherefore, my dearly beloved, flee from idolatry. I speak as to wise men; judge ye what I say. The cup of blessing which we bless, is it not the communion of the blood of Christ? The bread which we break, is it not the communion of the body of Christ? For we being many are one bread, and one body: for we are all partakers of that one bread. Behold Israel after the flesh: are not they which eat of the sacrifices partakers of the altar? What say I then? that the idol is anything, or that which is offered in sacrifice to idols is anything? But I say, that the things which the Gentiles sacrifice, they sacrifice to devils, and not to God: and I would not that ye should have fellowship with devils. Ye cannot drink the cup of the Lord, and the cup of devils: ye cannot be partakers of the Lord’s table, and of the table of devils. Do we provoke the Lord to jealousy? are we stronger than he?”
In V13 “make a way to escape” should be “make the way to escape”, singular way. Obvious, do NOT partake of anything offered but to GOD!
- 1 Cor C11 V17 – 34, “Now in this that I declare unto you I praise you not, that ye come together not for the better, but for the worse. For first of all, when ye come together in the church, I hear that there be divisions among you; and I partly believe it. For there must be also heresies among you, that they which are approved may be made manifest among you. When ye come together therefore into one place, this is not to eat the Lord’s supper. For in eating everyone taketh before other his own supper: and one is hungry, and another is drunken. What? have ye not houses to eat and to drink in? or despise ye the church of God, and shame them that have not? What shall I say to you? shall I praise you in this? I praise you not. For I have received of the Lord that which also I delivered unto you, That the Lord Jesus the same night in which he was betrayed took bread: And when he had given thanks, he brake it, and said, Take, eat: this is my body, which is broken for you: this do in remembrance of me. After the same manner also he took the cup, when he had supped, saying, This cup is the new testament in my blood: this do ye, as oft as ye drink it, in remembrance of me. For as often as ye eat this bread, and drink this cup, ye do shew the Lord’s death till he come. Wherefore whosoever shall eat this bread, and drink this cup of the Lord, unworthily, shall be guilty of the body and blood of the Lord. But let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of that bread, and drink of that cup. For he that eateth and drinketh unworthily, eateth and drinketh damnation to himself, not discerning the Lord’s body. For this cause many are weak and sickly among you, and many sleep. For if we would judge ourselves, we should not be judged. But when we are judged, we are chastened of the Lord, that we should not be condemned with the world. Wherefore, my brethren, when ye come together to eat, tarry one for another. And if any man hunger, let him eat at home; that ye come not together unto condemnation. And the rest will I set in order when I come.”
To “eateth and drinketh unworthily” is to not discern the LORD’S body. WE commune or drink the blood of CHRIST because “For this is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins”, Matt C26 V28. JESUS’ blood was shed once for the forgiveness of our sins because one of the absolutes of the bible is Heb C9 V22, “Indeed we may almost say that in obedience to the Law everything is sprinkled with blood, and that apart from the outpouring of blood there is no remission of sins.”. So, to remember what JESUS did to save us from our sins we commune, drink the blood of CHRIST (wine, grape juice ect).
JESUS’ body was broken/smitten/scourged/punched/whipped to fulfill Isa C53 V5 “But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.” So, we must discern that JESUS’ body was broken/smitten/scourged/punched/whipped for our mortal bodies to be healed. To “eateth and drinketh unworthily” has nothing to do with whether one is in a state of sin because we all are born sinners & will die sinners but JESUS’ blood is the full payment for all of mankind’s sins and we just believe. It will be unworthy if we do not understand HIS shed blood is salvation and HIS broken body is for the healing our mortal body. So, when we break bread, we symbolize JESUS’ body broken for our healing.
- 1 Cor C11 V31 “For if we would judge ourselves, we should not be judged.”, by believing/taking communion we judge ourselves already forgiven of our sins (past, present & future) because we are remembering what JESUS did on the cross once shedding HIS blood ~ 2000 years ago. By believing we are forgiven, and we will not be judged/condemned by JESUS (John C3 V35 & C5 V22) at judgement.
- Rom C6 V9 – 10, “Knowing that Christ being raised from the dead dieth no more; death hath no more dominion over him. For in that he died, he died unto sin once: but in that he liveth, he liveth unto God.”
- Gal C3 V13, “Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree:” (Deut C21 V22 – 23 above)
- Heb C7 V27, “Who needeth not daily, as those high priests, to offer up sacrifice, first for his own sins, and then for the people’s: for this he did once, when he offered up himself.”
- Heb C9 V12, “Neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by his own blood he entered in once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption for us.”
- Heb C9 V26, “For then must he often have suffered since the foundation of the world: but now once in the end of the world hath he appeared to put away sin by the sacrifice of himself.”
- Heb C9 V28, “So Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many; and unto them that look for him shall he appear the second time without sin unto salvation.”
- Heb C10 V10, “By the which will we are sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.”
- 1 Pet C3 V18, “For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit:” JESUS died once and only once, the ONLY sacrifice that GOD could accept for redemption of mankind’s sins. Even though we can do communion multiple times a day, every day as in Acts C2 V42 – 46, we are NOT sacrificing JESUS again, we are just remembering what JESUS did once and only once for our salvation and the healing of mortal bodies Isa C53 V5. Absolutely nothing can be offered/sacrificed by us that GOD can accept for remission of our sins. GOD provided the sacrifice once in JESUS CHRIST, we just remember & give thanks in JESUS’ holy & precious name.
We commune and have communion, in our homes, at work, wherever as many times as we commune and have communion remembering that
1. JESUS shed HIS blood once for the forgiveness of all sin past, present and future (communion of the blood/drink) Heb C9 V22 and
2. JESUS’ body was broken/smitten/scourged/punched/whipped so that our mortal bodies might be healed (communion of the body/bread) Isa C53 V5.
To do this unworthily is not to understand above points 1. AND 2.
3. JESUS also took onto HIMSELF all generational and otherwise curses, Duet C21 V22 – 23 & Gal C3 V13.
JESUS’ resurrection lets us know that GOD our FATHER accepted JESUS’ sacrifice as full payment for all of mankind’s sin, past, present & future till JESUS’ return!!!!!! Rom C4 V7 – 8, “Saying, Blessed are they whose iniquities are forgiven, and whose sins are covered. Blessed is the man to whom the Lord will not impute sin.”
